The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives (MoALFC) has developed a comprehensive Data Governance Framework to enhance the management and utilization of farmers' registration data in Kenya. This framework aims to foster trust among farmers by providing them with greater control over their data and establishing clear policies, standards, and protocols for data collection, storage, and use. The framework is built around five central pillars: defining roles and responsibilities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, establishing policies and guidelines, implementing practical tools and practices for data management, and developing key processes and procedures for data handling. By implementing this framework, the MoALFC seeks to improve data-driven decision-making, enhance communication among stakeholders, and increase the overall value and security of agricultural data.
